Soursop Leaf Tea – The Nerve Health Tea

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Soursop leaf tea, also known as graviola tea or guanabana tea, is a go-to tea for me, especially when I want to give my nervous system a boost.  The tea has long been used in traditional Caribbean and South American medicine.

Beyond its earthy, slightly sweet flavour, this herbal infusion is gaining attention for its potential to support nerve health, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation. Whether you’re seeking a natural remedy for nerve pain or simply looking to calm your nervous system after a stressful day, soursop leaf tea is a gentle, plant-based solution worth sipping.

Soursop leaf tea is a simple tea to brew. As long as you have access to some soursop leaves, you can store them and use them whenever desired to make your tea. This is an awesome and holistic way to pack nutrients into your diet with just a few leaves. Try it nuh!

INGREDIENTS

  • 5-6 dried soursop leaves (more can be used if desired).
  • 1 – 2 cups of water (more can be used if desired).
  • 1 ½ tsp sugar or honey (optional).
  • ½ tsp lemon juice (optional).

INSTRUCTIONS

    • Rinse the soursop leaves gently under cool water.
    • Bring water to a boil in a small pot.
    • Add the leaves and reduce to a simmer.
    • Let it simmer for 5 – 10 minutes.
    • Turn off the heat and let steep for another 3-5 minutes.
    • Sweetened with your preferred sweetener (optional).
    • Strain and serve warm or chilled.
    • Optional: Add a drizzle of lemon juice.
    • Enjoy!
Notes:

Remember to ensure that the leaves that you used are not green leaves.  It is best to let the leaves dry.  So, I always get a few leaves, rinse them, and place them on paper towels to dry. This may take a couple of days or more. Then I store them in a container for future use.  Also, you do not have to add any sweetener, as I sometimes don’t and instead, enjoy the tea as is.

It is a great tea to have any time of the day, but I love to enjoy it in the evenings at times, as it can help with sleep due to its nerve health properties. Hope you enjoy it! 😊.
