The Replenisher

Got carrots and beetroot. Well, you can make yourself a cool, healthy and refreshing drink. Here is a wonderful ‘pick-me-upper’ on a down day or before or after a workout.  Simply Sip and Enjoy! Try it nuh!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 small beetroots.
  • 2 small carrots.
  • 1 lemon.
  • Your choice of sweetener. I like using honey or dates.

DIRECTIONS

  • Wash, peel and dice beetroots and carrots.
  • Add lemon.
  • Blend for about 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Strain the juice to your desired smoothness.
  • Serve and enjoy.
Notes:

This is really a refreshing drink, plus it is super nutritious. You can have it at room temperature or chilled (I enjoy it both ways, but prefer it chilled).

~ Beetroot~

Beetroot is an excellent source of iron, fiber, vitamin C, calcium, protein and folate. Folate is necessary for DNA production and the metabolism of amino acids. It also contains nitrates, betaine and magnesium. The amino acid, leucine that is present in beets helps to decrease the body’s fat levels by shooting up metabolism and lean muscle mass. It is also said that beetroot may also help to increase blood flow to the brain and thus helps with.
