Ingredient Spotlight!
~ Dates~
Dates are the sweet fruits of the tree – Date Palms. They grow on clusters, similar to grapes, hanging a few feet off the ground.
These fruits are a natural source of sugar, which is said to have a low glycemic index. As such, they are less likely to spike blood sugar. They are high in fiber and a good source of nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, selenium, iron and even calcium.
It is also said to have some B vitamins along with vitamin C. You can add dried dates (without the seeds/pitted) to your smoothies or just eat them as is.
