TABLE OF CONTENTS
Oatmeal is always a handy food item to have as it can be used in so many ways. You can use it to make porridge, grind it to make pancakes, add it to smoothies and for this recipe, make it into a milkshake. This recipe is simple and can be enjoyed as a healthy ‘pick me upper’ when you just want to add some variety to your oats threats. Try it nuh!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup almond milk.
- ½ cup oats, soaked (overnight or for a few minutes to an hour).
- 2 tsp sugar or 2-3 dates to taste – without the pits (I prefer dates).
- ¼ tsp vanilla.
- ¼ tsp cinnamon.
- 1 ripe banana.
- 1 Tbsp Peanut butter (optional).
INSTRUCTIONS
- Throw off the water the oats were soaked in and rinse.
- Add all the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve with a few chia seeds/nuts/peanut butter on top.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Notes:
The soaking of the oats is what gives this recipe that ‘milkshaky’ feeling. It makes it smooth as the oats would have become much softer from the soaking. Also, soaking helps to remove the antinutrients from the oats such as – phytic acid. You can use frozen bananas to make it a chilling threat. This is super filling!

Cinnamon is always considered a powerhouse spice due to its many nutritional and health benefits. This famous spice is said to be loaded with antioxidants such as polyphenols. It is purported to be anti-inflammatory and thus can help the body to fight infections.
Additionally, it is also said to be able to improve the body’s sensitivity to insulin, which makes it anti-diabetic as well as rewarding for those who are diabetic.
All in all, this is just a very delicious spice to have on hand to spice up your meals and life.
